+++ TV Dads

Good old talk radio got me again. They had an hour segment about TV Dads, both old and new. They went from the old fashioned ones where Dad wore a suit and tie around the house to the current day ones that at least seem to be more main stream. I can tell you with certainty that my Dad was not a suit and jacket guy around the house. He worked a construction job daytime and ran a farm after work. I was not either, when I came home, I was always in a rush to get out of uniform and into shorts, t shirt or what ever was appropriately casual. Is there a TV Dad you remember best? Did you ever wonder why your Dad was not the same type of Dad? Please share your thoughts. Hear are a few example, do you remember them?

A coffee break of course. We have not stopped for a coffee break in awhile. Just hanging around the fireplace, kitchen table in the yard or wherever you want to , A good time to catch up on gossip or plan a head for the Christmas Season. Lets perk a cup and see whats up. How are things going in your life? Are your Christmas plans moving forward ? Is there something that you have not done yet that you would like to do?

It seems that snow and cold is swooping in with a vengeance in so many areas! Here in New Jersey we are getting colder weather, but fortunately no snow YET. I have my snow blower served and ready to roll though. How is the weather where you are? Is it any different now than it was in previous years? Maybe I am getting old, but it seems that weather wise things are a bit out of whack this winter. How do you deal with the snow? I have some ideas and observations to share . I hope, to the best of your abilities that you cope safely with the weather.

A little smooch, a kiss, peck on the cheek. Just goes to show you, lips were made for a great reason. A kiss on the cheek or forehead is such a great comforter for a , or maybe someone you do not know well. A kiss on the lips goes from just comfy to almost volcanic and every where in between. Exploration of your partner is facilitated by soft lips . . Ooops I may have lost where I was going with this . But do you enjoy kissing? How would you rate yourself in "skills". How important kissing to you and a relationship.

Actually I can be a bit more sophisticated in beverage choices being offered . I am a beer and shot guy year round, sometimes consuming 1-2 per month!!. Christmas time, perhaps one a week. It is one of my wild times of year. Do you indulge a bit more this time of year? Is there a beverage that you prefer? Or do you step out of the "norm" and try a beverage that you would not normally ? And to keep the season happy, please do not drink and drive

I was thinking that I have not expressed myself very well for this Christmas Season. I am going to say it with a song on this post and another on a follow up comment. With out getting mushy , This song is particularly important to me because it is multi lingual and is symbolic of the diversity of our "blogland" community > I wish you all from the bottom of my heart,,,,,,, (please tube it for the most pleasure).

Again, listening to Talk Radio has gotten me thinking . ( ) They were discussing several traditions for this time of year. I was rather surprised by the variety of answers and the vehemence of the various factions. Some people take these things so seriously , a difference could ruin their day ! . So lets keep this calm and I would like to have you share your answers on these three questions. And if possible, the reason for your choice (s)

Which is your favorite? A snowball fight of snow sledding?

Have you ever kissed someone under the Mistletoe?

Have you ever given a Christmas present to a pet?

My answers....

Which is your favorite? A snowball fight of snow sledding? A snowball fight

Have you ever kissed someone under the Mistletoe? More than a few times

Have you ever given a Christmas present to a pet? I do admit that I do

There is so much "seriosity" (cool word eh? )in the world. I think we should randomly pick a day and just do something fun or silly. Today I am looking up cartoons, jokes to get a chuckle. My sense of humor is not very sophisticated or "high brow", I just laugh at funny s**t . Is there a particular brand of humor that you enjoy most? Do you think that have a humor break day is a good idea?

“A Date Which Will Live in Infamy”:

On December 7, 1941 an event occurred that changed history. This post is not a political commentary, just posted as a remembrance of those brave men and woman that paid the ultimate price that day. Never should their sacrifice be forgotten. Nor should the sacrifices of many other nations before and after this event.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt: Yesterday, December 7, 1941—a date which will live in infamy—the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.

The United States was at peace with that nation, and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with its government and its emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific. Indeed, one hour after Japanese air squadrons had commenced bombing in the American island of Oahu, the Japanese ambassador to the United States and his colleague delivered to our secretary of state a formal reply to a recent American message. While this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of war or armed attack.

It will be recorded that the distance of Hawaii from Japan makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time the Japanese government has deliberately sought to deceive the United States by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

The attack yesterday on the Hawaiian Islands has caused severe damage to American naval and military forces. I regret to tell you that very many American lives have been lost. In addition, American ships have been reported torpedoed on the high seas between San Francisco and Honolulu.
Yesterday the Japanese government also launched as attack against Malaya.
Last night Japanese forces attacked Hong Kong.
Last night Japanese forces attacked Guam.
Last night Japanese forces attacked the Philippine Islands.
Last night Japanese forces attacked Wake Island.
And this morning the Japanese attacked Midway Island.

"Japan has, therefore, undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout the Pacific area. The facts of yesterday and today speak for themselves. The people of the United States have already formed their opinions and well understand the implications to the very life and safety of our nation.
As commander in chief of the Army and Navy I have directed that all measures be taken for our defense. But always will our whole nation remember the character of the onslaught against us. . . "

Our veterans of this incident are getting older, and soon we may not have any with us. Please take some time, remember them, their sacrifices and those that are no longer with us.

I heard a subject on the radio being discussed and thought would be fun to see what you may have to say. The subject,, “Craziest thing you did while intoxicated"? I am sure we are all pristine in our behavior, but maybe you have heard about “someone” that did something silly or naughty while partying and or consuming adult beverages. In my years in the military , I saw many things, some unbelievable. But of course my demeanor was above reproach . So tell us your favorite or most embarrassing party / drinking story. Remember what you say stays here

It should not be happening to me, but I am having a hard time getting things going today. Almost a Monday blahs . How the heck is that happening? I have no schedule, or pressing issues today . I have renewed concern for those of you that must be up and going for work or school. I am certain that I get over this quickly as I shoot back a few cups of coffee. If you have experienced this, what do you use to cope with it? When I noticed this when in the military, there was sure fire cure for it. A mandatory 2 mile jog!! Amazing how it changes attitudes

I am maturing and I refuse to be insulted by good natured teasing or jests about my "chronological position" in the universe. I used to chuckle about some of the old age jokes when I was younger. Now I laugh my a** off, because so many are true. Besides, if you get upset by these jokes, then the "jokester" is given control. How do you handle jokes that may include you, by whatever category you can think of? I exchange the "barbs" with my friends, and other select people that I know. If ill intentioned people think that their words will bother me, they are sadly mistaken.

Sitting here drinking some coffee, some random thoughts are "percolating " through my head. It seems that I see funny stuff every day. It maybe written articles. photos, or even people going about their business. Am I the only one that never does "weird" or funny stuff? Maybe it is a matter of perspective? I guess, if we did not have ourselves to laugh at , then this would be a boring world. What was the last funny thing that you saw while out and about? And if you dare, what was the last thing you did that was funny (inadvertently)?
