My autistic family

I realise autism is a buzz word.. but only recently have I found out way my family has been so disfunctional..

First, we have EDS.. or Erlos Danlos Syndrome.. look it up.. cuz it takes too long to explain..

Second.. My father had autism, 2 of my brothers have autism.. all of my have a form of autism to various degrees...and it wouldnt be a stretch to say that I have a high functioning form of autism. Now that the symptoms of autism are so well known, it's easy to see.. But back when autism was just a word in a dictionary, Those of us with family members that had autism were adrift in a broken boat without oars.. No knowledge of what it was, how to deal with it.. or what to do to help the situation..

Now I realise that my oldest brother with a master's degree in chemistry, is totally a high functioning autistic person. Give him a computer and he's very happy.. No computer, he's wandering around.. lost.. This man is now 78...He managed on his own..was widowed once.. married again.. had a second wonderful family, and now is living a great life with his family and grandchildren around him..
That is the best scenario you can have..

In my case it didn't all go so well. family members in my life now, are having major conflicts..I didn't really think the second shoe would ever fall, but it finally did.. Things will only be worse if someone dies..I feel like it's the bottom of the barrel now..I don't want to think about someone dying...

One of my family members did something very violent to my .. He got a concussion, and other injuries... can hardly walk now...
We had a session this after noon with the offending family member..
no admission of guilt.. no apology.. no realization of doing anything wrong.

wow..The family meeting went well.. i guess.. we left with a few plans about how to go on from here...Doctor and psychiatrist meetings are being arranged..
Things have gone horribly wrong, just at a time when we hoped all would go well...It turns out that the people, as well as the machinery have to be fixed, before harvest can go on..

I realise I dont have the worst situation in the world.. I have stuff.. I have food to eat.. a place to sleep.. nice things...

but.. but.. but... I would say my life sucks.. but you all wouldnt belive me..
I WILL write a book one day .. it will be excruciating for me to write it.. but othewise noone will believe my life...or maybe I should just forget about everything...no book.. no remembering and just continue on from here..

Stars... I am in need of big hugs...

Looking forward to a good year ahead!!

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

BIG hugs. I cannot imagine the space you are in, I hope your son will be alright.
In the midst of all this, don't forget to take care of yourself.

If there is a potential for the injuries to be life changing, I would get the law involved, relative or not! I will say prayers that your son gets better.

I agree with Rascal regarding the restraining order. You might find journal writing to be helpful at this time to organize your thoughts and feelings as well as to reflect on what's happening around you. It sounds like the appointments will allow for some cooling off to occur which is good. Just don't allow their drama to interfere with your life because it's most likely out of your control.

Never ignore those who care for you
you will have lost diamonds
while you were collecting stones

Son of mine is getting better..He can walk better today, and his eyes seem back to normal..Just when I try to get my life back to normal something else happens.. He has a separated shoulder.. chest injuries.. and still walks with a limp..
